This is Tape 23, dated January 2017. It could be 36 years old, it probably was used to record songs off the radio, or MTUSA off the telly, FGTH home edits, or slow dial tuning.

Since the 1980's I have an interest in artist Genesis P-Orridge, s/he had a 'cult' and encouraged followers to get creative on the 23rd of the month at 23:00 hours. 1999/2000 I made a career change and started this practice.

So to now, this is a random selection of 23 tracks recorded over the last 23 years, all are performance driven, and true to GPO's word, all are creative and indulgent and especially exciting.

Full 23 track album release date 23/01/23, our kid's birthday.

Inspiration is most exciting, to come away inspired is elation, be it a gig, movie, book, article or just a chat. Inspiration, it is unpredictable, and sometimes unwanted too. An interview with Dave Ball in 2001 said he did not just want Soft Cell to be drown in reverb but to write the mood and atmosphere into the music, I had just started experimenting with a state of the art reverb unit, suddenly it was redundant, but this was a clue to which way to head in. I knew what I wanted to listen to, but how to make it so, the Kopyright Liberation Front had hinted at a blueprint, then seeing Nurse With Wound live and figuring out how best I too could make the music melt and bubble and boil at a flick of the wrist, forever grateful. COIL's last gig in Dublin City Hall was the permission to do what ever the hell you wanted, you did not even need music, revelation. Music festivals at the sweet spot of sound out in a field where two or three or more stages sound spill together and make an amalgamated mess of pure kaoss, this unique unrepeatable moment of chance captured for home listening, then amped up for crowds and performed without practice or rehearsal, a different noise every time, random sounds with the dance arena spill providing the beat, the pounding pumping bass holding it all together, but unbeknownst. This.
The idea of a creative space on the 23rd of the month at 23:00 hours was the catalyst, to be as creative and exciting and indulgent, where the only goal is getting yourself off, that energy would bring about results above and beyond normal practice. This.

We use the same tapes over and over, for years, some even longer than this experiment. Parts from previous sessions are always there, sometimes only almost, others apparent, remembering the past but making way for the future, tape music will always repeat to fade.

"So people would do these rituals every 23rd of the month at 23:00 hours that involved having an orgasm, of course. Well, that’s both a pleasurable and effective way to contact your unconscious really quickly. And reprogram it. And so, we started doing that and it just grew from a few people to more and more until we started having to designing a structure. So, we had thee Temple ov Psychick Youth station, which was the original people, and then access points which meant groups of people who would access more of the network. And eventually, there were more than 10,000 people, more or less, worldwide, in many countries, actively involved in this network of … basically people having orgasms at the same time. Something that’s never been done before in the history of the world."
